Healing Happens Within
At Dr. Kenton Anderson’s functional medicine practice in Schaumburg, we believe something profoundly simple: healing happens within. Your body is not broken. It is communicating. Symptoms are not failures. They are signals pointing toward deeper imbalances that deserve attention, not suppression.
When we uncover and address those underlying drivers, the body can finally do what it was meant to do: heal.
And it doesn’t have to define your health and what’s possible for you. Dr. Anderson works from the premise that you’re whole and your body is perfect. So if that’s not your everyday reality, let’s find out what’s really going on with you and your current health concern and address it.Because you deserve a life of good health and well-being…And everything that comes with it.
Good health means having a strong body to carry you through the day and so much more:It comes with a kind of ease, joy, and radiance to it, and a quality of lifestyle that promotes well-being.It’s that natural zing in your step…And zest for your life.
Dr. Anderson Can Help You With These Conditions And More
Because functional medicine addresses underlying physiology rather than isolated symptoms, it can support a wide range of chronic concerns. Dr. Anderson works with patients in Schaumburg who are ready to move beyond symptom management and toward meaningful recovery.
Gut Health & IBS

Digestive symptoms are rarely just about the stomach. IBS, bloating, reflux, and irregular digestion often reflect microbiome imbalance, inflammation, food sensitivities, or stress-driven nervous system dysfunction. By restoring gut integrity and microbial balance, many patients experience improvements not only in digestion, but also in energy, mood, and immunity.
Autoimmune Conditions

Autoimmunity develops when the immune system loses tolerance and begins attacking the body’s own tissues. Functional medicine investigates triggers such as intestinal permeability, chronic infections, toxin exposure, and nutrient deficiencies. Addressing these drivers helps calm immune overactivation and restore regulation rather than suppressing symptoms alone.
Weight Loss Resistance

Weight gain is not simply a matter of calories or willpower. Hormones, insulin signaling, inflammation, sleep disruption, and gut health all influence metabolism. Dr. Anderson helps patients identify metabolic roadblocks so weight loss becomes a physiological shift—not a constant struggle.
Hormone Imbalances

Hormones orchestrate nearly every function in the body, from energy production to mood and metabolism. Imbalances in thyroid, adrenal, insulin, or sex hormones can create wide-ranging symptoms. Functional medicine evaluates the full hormonal network to restore balance and communication between systems.
Low Libido & Sexual Wellness

Sexual health reflects cardiovascular health, hormonal signaling, stress resilience, and metabolic function. Instead of treating symptoms in isolation, Dr. Anderson works to improve the biological environment that supports healthy desire, performance, and vitality.
Skin Issues

Chronic acne, eczema, rosacea, and other skin conditions are often outward expressions of internal inflammation, gut imbalance, or immune dysregulation. By addressing internal physiology, patients frequently see lasting improvements that topical treatments alone cannot provide.
If I could give Dr. Anderson more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. He’s been a godsend.
I came to Dr. Anderson in so much stomach pain that I couldn’t stand up straight. I’d gone to the emergency room thinking I needed emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder or fix a bad ulcer. I couldn’t sleep and I couldn’t eat. I was miserable. An ultrasound and endoscopy revealed inflammation, but nothing more.
Allison V.
I’ve known Dr. Anderson for 15 years and have always had a deep respect for his ability to advise and counsel.
The thing that I believe sets him apart – and I’m sure all skilled advisers – is his extraordinary listening skills. So when I received abysmal results for the second year in a row on an employer sponsored wellness screening I turned to him for help.
I had visited my family doctor at least annually up to that point and was frankly leery of the balance of pharmacological vs. lifestyle advice I was getting.

The Foundational Systems of Total Wellness
Functional medicine takes a systems-based approach to wellness. This means each system talks to the others and depends on them for support. True healing happens when the body’s core systems function in harmony, which means Dr. Anderson’s approach centers on optimizing five interconnected pillars of health.
Gut

The gut is more than digestion—it is the command center for immunity, nutrient absorption, and inflammation control. A disrupted microbiome can influence everything from brain fog to autoimmune disease. Restoring gut health creates a ripple effect throughout the body.
Hormones

Hormones act as the body’s communication network. When signaling becomes inconsistent, patients experience fatigue, weight gain, sleep issues, and mood changes. Functional medicine recalibrates these signals so systems can work together again.
Heart

Cardiovascular health is not just about cholesterol numbers. It involves inflammation, metabolic flexibility, mitochondrial health, and vascular function. By addressing these factors early, we support long-term heart health and overall vitality.
Mental Health

The brain is deeply connected to the gut, immune system, and metabolic state. Anxiety, depression, and cognitive fatigue often reflect physiological imbalances rather than purely psychological ones. Supporting neurotransmitter production, inflammation regulation, and stress resilience helps restore clarity and emotional stability.
Immune System

An overactive immune system drives autoimmunity. An underactive one leads to chronic infections and fatigue. Functional medicine seeks balance—training the immune system to respond appropriately rather than react excessively.

Meet Dr. Anderson
Dr. Kenton Anderson’s path to medicine was anything but traditional. Although he first dreamed of becoming a doctor at age 12, he initially built a successful 20-year career in corporate accounting as a CPA. A personal health crisis in his mid-30s—rapid weight gain, hypothyroidism, and lingering symptoms despite medication—led him to question a system focused primarily on prescriptions rather than root causes. At the same time, he watched his aging parents experience declining quality of life with few solutions beyond more pharmaceuticals. Determined to find a better way, Dr. Anderson left his corporate career and pursued his original calling, earning a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Health Sciences in 2012. Today, he blends naturopathic and conventional approaches to help patients create the conditions for true healing, focusing on restoring foundational health, improving quality of life, and supporting the body’s innate ability to recover and function optimally.
